Eid ul Adha (Blog#3)
Eid ul Adha is a public holiday in Muslim
countries. It happens annually on 10th of the last month of the year
in the Hijah calendar. We start the day by taking shower and wearing new –if
possible or the best- clothes. Then, each neighborhood gets together to pray
Eid-Prayer at sunrise. Then, each one exchanges greeting with the other by saying "Eid Mubarak" .

After that, each family returns to their home to
sacrifice a sheep (or sheep) at home or at slaughterhouse. Each father
sacrifices at least one sheep for himself and his family, if they can afford
it.

The meat of a sheep is divided by thirds. One third is distributed among
poor people. Another one is a gift that is distributed among neighbors, friends
and family members. The last third is for the family themselves.Usually, the
breakfast on the day contains meat as well as lunch and dinner. the meat often is cooked with rice for lunch or dinner
At Eid and
the three following days, we eat the meat and thank Allah for all the blessings
we have received.
